"I have worked on my craft since the 80’s; always developing my voice as an artist. My current work in cipher/cryptic language is one that I have created in an abstract form with modern and contemporary elements. I have fashioned depth in contrast and surface to bring drama between the symbols and the surface which they rest.
I began by playing with forms of dancing people and evolved to exaggerating the forms until they began to look like symbols. Then I began developing the forms in an alphabet until I had enough to write anything. My challenge was bringing cohesiveness and lucidity to the project and each piece created.
The thing I love most is watching people who are viewing my work. They seem to realize my work is a puzzle and try to figure it out. The moment when they realize I’ve made up my own language, seems to pull them in and connect, I love seeing this.
I wanted this work to be easily recognizable, stylistic in any medium, eye catching and contemporary."
